Christmas Past....

This week I finally decided to go through all the Christmas Ornaments that my late husband and I collected and hung on out tree each year in order to pare down.
I decided to keep the beautiful glass ones (mostly animals) that he gave me each year we were together (of course) and pick of few others to give to charity.
In the mix were a few from both our childhoods that I thought some of my customers might enjoy, not that I've decided to let them go-

I will be listing more this week, including some classic glass shiny brights from my collection and recent finds.

Fresh Finds

This week I've been posting a lot of white items in the store..
maybe because it's been so hot and white has a natural calm, cooling effect.
Maybe I should start buying blue for August!

Anyway-it's always a favorite in the vintage world, and never goes out of style!

My First Out door Show at Luckett's Spring Market

Wow, am I exhausted!

Doing an outdoor show is a lot of work, but this is such a great one, it's a happy exhaustion.

This was my first time getting into the Luckett's Spring Market in Leesburg, Va.,
sponsored by the talented folks at The Luckett's Store & Design House.

The weather forecast was not good, but somehow it held out with just one small rain shower.

I did well for my first time I think, and look forward to next year (assuming they invite me back)!

My booth!

Lots of great vendors with cool stuff....

Early Blooms...

Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.

After the horrible events in Boston yesterday, and the all consuming news reports, I found solice in my garden on this sunny spring afternoon.

There's nothing like the buzzing of the busy bees and the soothing sound of trickling water to soothe your soul.
Take pleasure in the little things every day.....

A Little Taste of Ireland

Well, I hope you all had a lovely St.Patrick's Day whether you're Irish or not!
I happen to be about three quarters Irish. My grandfather came straight through Ellis
Island from the "land of saints and scholars".
But I digress..this post is supposed to be about bread - soda bread in particular.
I'm not prone to cooking Irish "type" food but this year, found a simple recipe that
turned out great!

Doesn't it look pretty? And it was really simple..which makes it even better.
I served it up with a little beef stew cooked in the Crock Pot, add a little Irish music..and you'r set!

Here's the recipe....

white soda bread

Let me know if you try it and how you like it!

Vintage Collection Series- Metal Photo Frames

I've been selling vintage metal photo frames in my store for a few years now and decided last week to use a few in my home. I have such a nice collection of black & white family photos and decide to turn the top of my "bar" (a wood cabinet ) into a place to display them.
These are all of my favorites of my parents (as kids), my grand parents, who are sadly all gone now, and a cute one of my brother and sister and I when I was only two!

Most of these frames come in the usual 5x7 and 8x10 sizes, but you can also find bi-fold and tri-folds which are nice to add to the mix.
Honestly, if you scour enough thrift stores and estate sales, you can find these for a few bucks a piece.
If you don't have time to scour, then you can always buy them from me!
