Over 100 sales!

After a sale in my stuart road vintage shop last night,I was going to announce that I had finally reached 100 sales! But after an unprecedented day of activity,I am proud to call it 105!!
I opened this store in February of 2010,so I could use a different name from my first store (1532vintage.etsy.com) which is now my ephemera and kitschy items store. That one has 169 and seems to be stuck there lately.
Please take a look, since I just listed this item the other day:

Pretty Pink Vintage Stuff

I just noticed that I've been picking up a lot of pink items lately and wondering why?
Is it the blooms of the azaleas and peonies that are influencing my color palette,or is it just coincidence that there are lots of pink things on the shelves of thrift stores these days..
Regardless, pink is a refreshing color and one that was super popular in the 1950's-with both men and women alike!

Using Vintage Planters

Yesterday I was at a garden center getting a few things and I walked by a cart filled with cactus (cacti?)
and cute little succulent plants. I have never tried owning these plants, but their recent popularity and easy care reputation made me buy a few!
I love the way they look in clean white vintage pots-especially the footed ones!
I left these in the pots they came in,but if you have a planter with a drainage hole you can plant them directly.
I used plastic newspaper bags to fill in under and around the pots, and then filled in with seashells and vintage marbles. You could also use buttons in one color, gravel or colorful beads!

A layer of larger shells makes a base for the pot

                                                          This McCoy planter will be
                                                                                                                 available soon!
Use your smallest and most intersting shells on top

I'm keeping this one!

Think about where these plants will be living since some need bright light and some are better in low light.
Let me know what you think..I love comments!

Run for the Roses

I know today is Mother's day-hope it was a good one for all!
Today's post is about the Derby Day party we went to yesterday.
It was our first, and the second for our hosts and we had a great time!
The betting was done by random pick. A $5 bet got you three horses-one for WIN, one for PLACE and one for SHOW.
Who do you think won?
Why my DH,of course! He recieved $45 for his first place winner. He is lucky at these things!

A Beautiful Day!

It's a very nice spring day in May,so I'm grateful that I have an hour or so to sit outside in my lovely backyard!

This is from this year, with red impatients added.

My DH and I put in a nice garden area near the deck that includes a fountain and a hammock. We put it in a few years ago,and it's still my favorite area of the yard. It's a shady garden mostly,so we have lots of hosta and ferns and they are thriving!
These pics are from last year, but I will take updated ones once we finish planting and mulching!

These pavers look like wood, but are actually a man made material

Ahhhh-nap anyone?

Vintage Collection Series-Clam Shell Shapes

But more wonderful than the lore of old men and the lore of books is the secret lore of ocean. H. P. Lovecraft
This quote may be the reason that the beauty of seashells in all shapes have been collected by many for so many years.
I'm seeing a resurgence of popularity in the clam shell especially,I think mostly because of it's simple shape.

Here are a few of my favorites that I found on Etsy, including a few new items from my own main shop.
